How to End Non-Responsive or Frozen Windows in Session Desktop
Sometimes Windows applications freeze, crash, get stuck or hung up. However you'd like to call it, the process to end a non-responsive application is always the same; either restart your PC by Start > Restart or use task manager to end the task.
To force close an app on the session desktop, you have two options;
Option 1) Start > Profile image > Sign out from the Session Desktop window. Signing out force closes all of your running applications. When you log back in, you will get a fresh session. This is the equivalent of a reboot.
It's important to make sure you're signing out from the correct window. You should see the blue "Session Desktop" control bar at the top of your screen to ensure you're signing out of the right place.
Closing the Session Desktop using the "X" WILL NOT force close your apps.
Closing the Session Desktop using the Start > Disconnect option WILL NOT force close your apps.
Option 2) Use Task Manager to force close individual apps. The first option will completely end all of your running apps. Sometimes you just want one app forced close and it would be a pain to close everything you're working on. If you are comfortable using task manager, you can open it on the Session Desktop by using CTRL + ALT + END > start task manager. In the processes tab, highlight the frozen application > end task.
Note: If you force close Purchasing or Inventory Module in Timberline, you may get a message saying you can only have one instance of poiv open at a time. If you get that, use option 1.
