How to Setup Microsoft Authenticator Account on Your Device
In this article, you will learn to install and set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your device. This article only covers how to do so on IOS devices, so take note if you are using Android or Windows, the design may differ slightly.
It is highly recommended to have at least two devices, one to go through the prompts and one to set up the authenticator. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take screenshots of the authenticator app for security reasons, so please follow the steps carefully.
Microsoft Authenticator for first-time users.
When you attempt to sign in for the first time on any device without an authenticator set up, you will be prompted. Go ahead and follow the steps as shown.
1. The prompt will say, "your organization needs more information to secure your account." Go ahead and click next
2. You now should see "Microsoft Authenticator... Start by getting the app"
Go to the app store (or play store) and download the authenticator (the 'download now') on your current or 2nd device
3. After the authenticator is done downloading, go ahead and click 'Next' on the screen above
4. You should now see the screen below. Go ahead and click 'show QR code'
A box-like bar code should appear on your screen; scan it with your 2nd device
A. If you are using a single device for this setup, you can try to pair your account to the app by clicking this link instead
5. Open the authenticator on your device, click the three-dot icon on the top right, and click add an account
A. You now see your camera's view, go ahead and scan the QR code on the other device
B. Click Next to continue
6. It will ask you to test the authenticator on your phone; go ahead and open the Microsoft Authenticator app or wait for it to send you a notification
A. it will then appear message 'approve sign-in?' Then, Romanoff Group <your-email>, click on approve
B. In a few moments, you should see on your other device or back on the sign-in screen you should see Notification approve like below
7. After that, go ahead and click on next. You should then see the steps on how to set up your number as an additional option
8. type in your phone number in the phone number field
9. click next, then insert the code given to you via text
10. click next one more time
You are all done, after that, you should receive a confirmation from the prompt that you are all set up. I recommend you attempt to sign in and out into the office app to confirm its working
